Ferragosto on the Farm

  • Loughlin Vineyard 299 Middle Road Sayville, NY, 11782 United States (map)

Every August 15th, Italy comes to a full stop. Ferragosto traces back to ancient Rome, when Emperor Augustus declared a stretch of rest at the height of summer, right before harvest season kicked into gear. Centuries later, it's still one of the biggest days on the Italian calendar: cities empty out, families gather at long outdoor tables, and nobody's in a hurry to be anywhere else.

We're bringing that same spirit to the vineyard for the day. Think watermelon, the unofficial fruit of the holiday, showing up in a watermelon and feta salad and a watermelon spritz built for sipping slowly in the shade. Lawn games set up on the grass for anyone who wants to wander over between pours. Live music by Evan & James from 2-5pm, easy and unhurried, the kind of soundtrack made for lingering rather than rushing off.

Pair it all with our wines, pull up a seat at one of our long tables, and settle in. This isn't a day with a schedule, it's a day to slow down, the way Italy has for centuries.

Bring family, bring friends, and leave the rush at the gate.
